What makes it special? The 2024 NFL preseason just kicked off this month, and NFL fans and analysts will have their eyes on Houston Texans star quarterback C.J. Stroud, who just had one of the best NFL rookie seasons of all time. He set the bar extremely high during his debut pro season in 2023, and if his rookie season is any indication of what's to come, the sky is the limit for the Ohio State product.

Stroud entered the league as the second overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. He looked right at home, making an immediate impact with a team that hadn't won more than four games in the previous three seasons. Stroud led the Texans to a 10-win season for the first time since 2019, clinching the AFC South title and earning a wild card berth in the playoffs. Houston went on to earn what would be Stroud's first playoff victory before falling to the Ravens in the divisional playoffs, but the young QB had earned the respect of the league for his superb rookie season.

Stroud earned several accolades for his successful rookie campaign, including multiple Texans franchise records. He threw the most passing yards (4,108), the most passing TDs (23), most pass completions (319) and most pass attempts (499) ever for a rookie season in Houston. Therefore, it was only right that Stroud received the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year Award, as well. Stroud was clearly ahead of the rookie NFL learning curve, but can he help turn the Texans into perennial playoff contenders? We'll find out soon, as the 2024 NFL regular season is right around the corner!

Did you know? C.J. Stroud broke several NFL records during his rookie season, which makes his phenomenal debut season all the more impressive. To start his career, he threw 191 consecutive passes without an interception, which is the most passing attempts without an interception in league history.

Stroud also holds records for the most passing yards in a single game by a rookie QB (470), the most 350+ yard passing games by a rookie (3-tied) and the most passing TDs in a single game by a rookie QB (5-tied). Further, at only 22 years, 3 months and 10 days old, he became the youngest starting QB to ever win a playoff game. The Texans look to have struck gold with their young signal caller, and Stroud will look to pick back up where he left off as his second pro season just began.
