In order to maintain the integrity of the CGC Cards Population Report, CGC Cards' grading team used the verification images taken of every previously-certified Neo Revelation holo to update each card's certification, reflecting their proper variants. Please check your card's certification number here to see if your card is now recognized as a "Double" Holo variant. Any previously certified Neo Revelation holo cards may be resubmitted under CGC Cards' ReHolder service to have the variant added to the label for just $5. Learn how to submit here.

If you believe you have a "Double" Holo variant card that was mistakenly not updated in the Verify Certification tool, please email your card's CGC Cards certification number, along with photos of the front of your card, to [email protected] for a free analysis and review by our expert graders.

What is a "Double" Holo variant?

After the initial release of Neo Revelation in 2001, Wizards of the Coast modified the white opaque layers in the printing files for the cards. The white opaque layer is the first layer put on top of the holofoil in order to block the foil from bleeding through in specific areas. This change to the opaque layers resulted in differences between the appearances of each card. While some are minor, many are easy to notice, like the two pictured above. The reason for WotC's change to the opaque layers is unknown, but it is clear that these "Double" Holo variants are much rarer than normal holofoils, and often bring large premiums in the marketplace.

To make it easier to identify these variants, CGC Cards' photography team has taken high-resolution photos of each card in both its normal and "Double" Holo variant type. These are listed below in numerical order based on card number, along with tips on how to tell the difference between each card.

1/64 - Ampharos

The "Double" Holo variant will have no white border around Ampharos, with the change particularly noticeable behind the head. Additionally, the yellow border around Ampharos's mouth is much thinner on the "Double" holo variant.
