CGC Cards Now Grading Jumbo Cards; Introduces Sleek New Holders

Posted on 7/18/2024

Collectors can now submit their favorite oversized Pokémon, Marvel, sports cards and other jumbo cards for authentication, grading and encapsulation.

CGC Cards™ is thrilled to announce the expansion of its expert authentication, grading and encapsulation services to include jumbo cards, complete with a brand-new, state-of-the-art holder!

“Collectors have been patiently — or not so patiently — waiting for the day they could send in their oversized TCGs, sports cards and non-sports cards to CGC for grading and encapsulation,” said Matt Quinn, Vice President of CGC Cards. “We’re happy to announce that the day is finally here.”

Often, card companies will create oversized versions of popular cards to sell as promotional items, and they are highly collectible, especially since many of them are only sold for a limited time.

Unfortunately, storing jumbo cards has proved difficult for collectors over the years. Very few official binders existed with the ability to properly store jumbo cards until 2021, when Pokémon revealed a special binder meant to hold the Pokémon 25th Anniversary jumbo card set. Before this, collectors were forced to store their jumbo cards without the protection of sleeves or binders, or had to homebrew their own protective measures for their cards.

Similar to the Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) state-of-the-art holder for banknotes, CGC Cards has created a soft-plastic holder tailored for jumbo cards. The holder can be used horizontally and vertically, and comes in two different sizes to accommodate jumbo cards of different types and eras: one for cards sized up to 5" x 7" and one for cards sized up to 6" x 9". Get a closer look at the holder below!

How to submit jumbo cards for CGC Cards certification

CGC Cards is now accepting jumbo cards for authentication, grading and encapsulation. The price for submitting standard jumbo cards is just $15 per card. Jumbo cards are also eligible for CGC x JSA Authentic Autograph certification at $20 per card (plus grading fees) and CGC Signature Series at $30 per card (including grading fees). Remember: Paid CGC members receive discounts on grading services — Associate and Premium members save 10%; Elite members save 20% — and memberships start at just $25 per year. In addition, CGC Cards will now accept jumbo card submissions at shows and events. Bring your jumbo cards to The National from July 24-28 in Cleveland, Ohio, or San Diego Comic Con in San Diego, California, from July 25-28! (Please note that jumbo cards are eligible for drop-off submissions, but not on-site grading.) CGC Cards will also be attending other events throughout the year — for a list of the events we’ll be at, go here.
