CGC Trading Cards Accepting Submissions for Metal Pokémon Cards Once Again!

Posted on 1/25/2023

After an extensive R&D process, CGC Trading Cards has implemented an innovative method for encapsulating delicate metal Pokémon commemoratives. Orders that had been on hold have already started to ship back to submitters.

CGC Trading Cards® is pleased to announce that the company will once again be accepting the commemorative Pikachu and Charizard metal cards from the Pokémon Celebrations Ultra-Premium Collection for authentication, grading and encapsulation.

In addition to the Pikachu and Charizard metal cards, CGC Trading Cards is also accepting Arceus V and Arceus VSTAR metal cards from the Gamestop-exclusive Arceus VSTAR Ultra-Premium Collection for certification.

CGC Trading Cards conducted an extensive R&D process to develop an encapsulation solution that would help to protect the delicate edges of these cards from damage during transit. The result is an innovative adaptation to the CGC Trading Cards holder that is both protective and aesthetically pleasing. Two additional layers of protection, including an internal sleeve and internal well that is similar to the one utilized by Pokémon in the Ultra-Premium Collection packaging, have been added to the popular CGC Trading Cards holder.

Many of the metal cards that had been held by CGC Trading Cards have already been shipped to their submitters, with the rest shipping to submitters soon. We thank our submitters for their patience as CGC Trading Cards implemented the necessary changes to ensure that collectors and dealers receive the best possible authentication, grading and encapsulation services.

Please note: Due to the fragile nature of these metal cards, CGC Trading Cards cannot be held responsible should any damage occur during transit to or from CGC Trading Cards’ facilities, as such damage can occur even with the highest degree of care. If a card is returned to the submitter not graded, it is likely "Not Suitable for Certification" (NC) due to loose paint found on the edges of some cards, which can flake off.
