TikTok-famous 'Washing Machine Charizard' Offered by Heritage Auctions

After being certified by CGC Trading Cards and then signed by several influencers, the Delta Species Charizard graded CGC 1 is raising funds for autism causes.

In January 2022, CGC Trading Cards® certified a rare Charizard Pokémon card that had an unfortunate journey through the spin cycle. Now, that same card is being offered in a Heritage sale. Bidding is already underway for the 2022 December Trading Card Games Signature® Auction, which is set to end on December 3, 2022.

TikTok influencer Ivy R. (queenmetazoo on TikTok) posted a video on December 7, 2021, of a card she found face-down in the washer. After flipping it over, the card was revealed to be a highly sought-after Delta Species Charizard from the 2006 Crystal Guardians expansion of the Pokémon TCG. The viral video has since reached over 15 million views as followers and Pokémon fans alike lamented over the unfortunate event.

After the video went viral, Ivy R. submitted the card to CGC Trading Cards for authentication, grading and encapsulation. It received a grade of CGC 1.0, which is given to cards with extensive damage, such as large tears and extreme defects.

Ivy R. began taking the certified card — with the “Washing Machine Charizard” pedigree — to events that celebrities, influencers and trading card fans were attending, and now the front and back of the card’s holder have been signed by several high-profile names, including Logan Paul, Veronica Taylor, Leonhart and Steve Aoki. These signatures and the card’s incredible story of survival combine for a one-of-a-kind collectible.

The proceeds from the auction will be donated to autism causes and research.
