Certified Sports Guaranty® (CSG®) has graded three more 2000 Playoff Contenders Autographs #144 Tom Brady rookie cards. They include one graded CSG 9 that now sits atop the CSG Population Report, as well as two that are each graded CSG 8.5.
All three examples were graded over a one-month stretch in summer 2022. Each also received a grade of CSG 10 for the autograph. Cards in this condition easily sell for tens of thousands of dollars.
When Tom Brady was selected by the New England Patriots in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft, his future was anything but secure. He was picked number 199 overall and was the seventh quarterback to be selected that year. In his first year in the pros, he played one game, gaining six yards on one pass completion. Collectors who pulled his rookie card that year would have seen little reason to keep it.
Twenty years later, however, Tom Brady is widely recognized as one of the best quarterbacks to have ever played the game. He has won seven Super Bowls, been named the Super Bowl MVP five times, been named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player three times and was named Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year in 2005. He holds a host of NFL records, including most passing completions and most touchdown passes.
After 20 seasons with the New England Patriots, Brady signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020. In his first season with Tampa Bay, Brady led the team to a Super Bowl victory. After a very brief retirement, fans — and collectors — are eager to see what this year has in store, as the 2022 NFL season kicks off.
