Team CGC Trading Cards Advanced to Day Two of the World Championships!

A round of applause for Team CGC Trading Cards for making it to day two of the Pokémon World Championships! The Pokémon World Championships is an invitation-only event held each year in a different location, requiring players to qualify in local, regional and international tournaments. This year the event was held at the ExCel London events center in London, England on August 18-21, with 749 total competitors in the Master’s Division.

Representing Team CGC Trading Cards, Azul Garcia Griego placed 26^th and Caleb Gedemer placed 37^th overall, both with a record of 5-2-1 in their matches. Team CGC Trading Cards’ newest member, Kidd Starck, also attended to play in the London Open, placing 63^rd, with a record of 6-3-1.

Team CGC Trading Cards was assembled by Danny Oesterreich, and is comprised of seasoned players Daniel Altavilla, Azul Garcia Griego and Caleb Gedemer. The team began the 2022 season at the Secaucus Pokémon Regional Championships, at the Meadowland Exposition Center in Secaucus, New Jersey, on May 20-22. They also competed in the North America Pokémon Regional Championships at the Wisconsin Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, June 17-19, with Griego taking 10^th place.

Prior to the World Championships, team member Azul Garcia Griego placed first out of 1,155 players in the North America International Championships, June 24-26, at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio. This was not only a major win for Team CGC Trading Cards, but it was also historic for being the first time that a North American competitor has won the event.
