CSG Grades Rare Diego Maradona Rookie Card

Certified Sports Guaranty® (CSG®) is excited to have graded a rare Diego Maradona 1977 Futbol Discs #11 rookie card. The card was submitted to CSG for on-site grading during the 2022 National Sports Collectors Convention in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and earned a grade of CSG 4.
This is the first, and so far only, example of this card recorded in the CSG Population Report. In this condition, it is easily worth thousands of dollars.
Diego Maradona of Argentina is regarded as one of the greatest soccer players in history. Throughout his career, he played for multiple clubs, setting world-record transfer fees when he moved to Futbol Club Barcelona in 1982 and then again to S.S.C. Napoli in 1984.
As a member of the Argentina National Team, he played in four World Cups. During the quarterfinals of the 1986 World Cup, Argentina defeated England 2-1 with two goals from Maradona, including one dubbed the Goal of the Century in which he evaded five defenders.
About that goal, England's Gary Lineker was quoted as saying, “When Diego scored that second goal against us, I felt like applauding. I'd never felt like that before, but it's true... It was impossible to score such a beautiful goal. He's the greatest player of all time, by a long way."
Maradona passed away in 2020 at the age of 60.
There aren’t many of these cards found on the collectors’ market. The CSG team was thrilled to have the opportunity to certify this rare rookie card and add it to the CSG Population Report, which now includes over 50,000 soccer cards.
